Dear Friends,
Summer/Fall 2005
Church Community Services, Inc. is proud to announce that its Soup of
Success Job & Life Skills Training Program has once again been
awarded Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) tax credits from the Indiana
Department of Commerce!
For
eight years the Soup of Success program has provided support to local
women who are striving to overcome difficult life situations and gain the
skills necessary to succeed in the job market. Our unique program
encompasses education, hands-on business skills, personal assessment, career
counseling, computer training, and self-esteem building.
Based on strategic plans made last summer, the SOS training program has been
lengthened to five months. An important addition is a full-time staff person
who acts as both Life Coach and Mentoring co-coordinator. Abbie Kashmir
meets individually with each woman to set goals and monitor progress. She
also facilitates group interaction and provides employment resources.
Finally, she works with fellow coordinator Kathy Peterson to oversee the
mentoring program which provides support and follow-up for the graduates.
The
success of this program is a result of partnerships, funding, donations, and
volunteers from throughout the Elkhart community
The
Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) allows donors to receive tax credits
from the State of
Indiana
for up to 50 percent of the value of your donation and is above and
beyond your federal deduction.
To contribute, simply fill in the
highlighted sections of the enclosed form and return it along with your
check in our self-addressed envelope. Checks must be made payable to
Soup of Success.
We are excited about partnering
with you to make a difference in the lives of local Elkhart women.
