Betsy developed the Soup of Success program in November 1997 and still directs it to this day.  She is passionate about empowering women to find their voices, stop settling and reclaim their lives.  Betsy does presentations on the Soup of Success program and Church Community Services and is active in agency fundraising and development as well as social media communications. Betsy loves meeting new people and is always on the lookout for new retail and wholesale customers and people who want to get connected through volunteering!

Michelle came to Soup of Success in the Spring of 2024 and now serves as the Soup of Success Programming  Facilitator– teaching the Practicing Personal Power and Emotional Resources classes and facilitating the Self Discovery group. She also supports Soup of Success women one-on-one, both as participants and graduates. Since childhood, Michelle has always loved being around women and loves being an encouraging cheerleader; helping them to believe in themselves.

Rachel is a mother of three kids and graduated from the Soup of Success program in July of 2016. After graduating, she kept in contact with the SOS staff, and joined the team working part-time as a production assistant in the fall of 2021. “I love working with the SOS classes in food production. Getting to support and encourage them and most of all, watching them grow during their time in the program is just amazing! I am thrilled to be here and to give back to the program that did so much for me.” Rachel was promoted to SOS Production Manager in May 2022, bringing skills, ideas, and positive enthusiasm to the Soup of Success team.

Jennifer Leiby joined our team in February of 2025.  She is a graduate of Bethel University and began working in social services in Elkhart County in 1998.  Prior to coming to SOS, Jennifer was a case manager with a single parent program as well as a pre-natal counselor at the health department where she was able to support and educate women during their pregnancy and postpartum.   Jennifer is passionate about seeing women overcome their barriers and loves that the SOS program is able to reach such a wide variety of women in different stages of life.   As the Goal Accountability Facilitator for SOS, Jennifer teaches Goal Setting in the classroom and does one on one goal setting and accountability with the women.  Jennifer says she is always inspired by how resilient women are and believes that she has learned more in the last 28 years from the women she has walked beside than she has ever taught.  

Amy Myers

Amy has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a passion for plants, animals and anything in nature. She teaches Career Counseling classes, helping the women in the program identify career goals, develop resumes, and practice and improve their interviewing skills. She continues work with participants after graduation by supporting graduates in pursuing their goals of further education or employment, whether it’s help with the application process, interviews or problem-solving any barrier that might get in the way. “I enjoy finding creative solutions and I view ‘I can’t’ as a challenge. I’m committed to meeting each woman where they are to empower them through whatever challenges they face to gain and maintain meaningful employment and move toward self-sufficiency.”

Belinda Gamez

Soup of Success Production Assistant

Belinda was a part of Soup of Success team 20. She  graduated in July of 2019, stayed on to volunteer for a while and then came on our staff officially as a Production Assistant at the end of 2019. Belinda works primarily producing shower melts, candles and is an awesome designer of mittens in our upcycled wool textile line. “I enjoy making Soup of Success products. It not only keeps me busy, but I know that I am a part of helping to fund future classes of women.”

Tarica is a proud graduate of Soup of Success team 30. She started as a Production Assistant July of 2025, supporting the production and packaging of our soups, cookies and dips. “What makes my role especially meaningful is being able to work alongside current participants, sharing the skills I’ve learned, encouraging teamwork and helping create a supportive space where everyone can grow. Soup of Success has played a powerful role in my own journey and being a part of it is incredibly important to me. Contributing to meaningful work that supports others on their journey. I am truly grateful to part of a mission that not only makes quality products but also helps people build confidence, skills and hope for the future.”
